Of course I said yes. You see Eric is not only a pal but a collaborator for many years. He directed/animated a video in 2009 for one of our Bran Flakes songs, I Wonder Where My Grandmother Is?. Plus he released music on the old net label project I headed up, Comfort Stand: SPLIT! (EP release with Coconut Monkeyrocket) + the compilations Two Zombies Later, Comfort Cake, and Wakka Chikka Wakka Chikka.

I just stumbled upon this while browsing the WFMU upcoming/past event listings…

Click here to listen and view the playlist

Wow! Thanks Bill Mac!! Really wonderful retrospect on the project. Bill put together tracks from the first year in 2003.

In a nutshell, in 2003, the project/blog was featured here. A track a day for a full year was the project and while I organized/contributed to the thing it would not have been what it was without the help of super friends old and new.

It’s all hosted at UbuWeb with a mirror at WFMU.

365 in 2003 was a lot of fun. Not only was it a way to share records I had but even more I heard new sounds almost daily from contributions.

On the 2nd week of the project after a Yahoo Site of the Day and a article in The Guardian my host Dreamhost took down this site for exceeded bandwidth (before they had unlimited bandwidth with accounts). I sent a call out on the site and 4 sites mirrored the files within 24 hours (unpopular.com, retrolicious.com, whitecanvas.net and zapkerpow.com) with Zapkerpow writing a PHP script for random downloads. Suffice to say I was more than touched. And then Dreamhost credited my account for the bandwidth and wrote my bill off (over $500!). Wow.

By the end of 2003 I vowed never to do the project again. In 2007 I said what the hell and did it again on the WFMU blog. There are no plans to revive the project.

It was a very good year.
